The quartet of freshman Eric Banks, sophomore Zac Farnham-Haskell, and juniors Phil Wiltshire & Gino Bisceglia ran their first round race of the Men's 4x400m relay. The Red Dragon relay ran a new SCHOOL RECORD time of 3:14.08 to tie for 7th place and qualify for the finals round Saturday. The former record was 3:14.20, ran by the same relay earlier this outdoor season at the Cornell Invitational (the fellas created such a lead over the rest of the field they ran they ran the race practically all by themselves from start to finish). By qualifying, the young men become the first foursome to ever qualify for the finals in the event for Cortland, and will become All-American's by finishing the race.
You can watch a video of the race at the link below:
Tomorrow afternoon, Gino Bisceglia has his first round race of the open 400m. Gino was an All-American indoors in this race. Should he qualify for the finals, Gino will potentially become a two-time All-American this season (and he still has another year of eligibility left).
Freshman P.J. Flynn, Jr. will be competing Saturday afternoon in the Men's triple jump competition. Flynn was All East indoors in the event, placing fourth at the 2010 Indoor ECAC meet. Flynn also placed third at the 2010 SUNYAC Outdoor Championship meet (held at SUNY Brockport). With a best of 14.61m, P.J. hopes to improve upon his mark (set at the first meet of the season) and qualify for the finals in the event, held the same day. He has a legitimate shot, as all of the competitors are withing half a meter of each other.
